Winkleigh play park development
Amy refused to allow people to write off an area near her home as wasted space, particularly when children couldn’t find enough safe places to play in Winkleigh. So she took matters into her own hands and set out to revitalise an area of her local community. Amy outlined an area near to a playing field and youth centre which contained some underused play equipment in need of rejuvenation.
Amy put a proposal together and received some Big Boost funding to create a new play park for the local children. This would include new landscaping and adventure play equipment. She was successfully awarded the funding and set about making the area a better place for children. What Amy achieved, however, was not only an improved environment for Winkleigh, but also a way to bring together local children so they could have a say in the park’s update. They’ve since got involved in decorating the new graffiti wall and helped raise more funds for the play park and youth centre.
