Ailsa Holmes
Founder, Powwow Eco Arts
Ailsa became involved with community arts when she moved from Ireland to Brazil for a ‘year out’, where she worked with young people in the shanty towns.
She founded Powwow Eco Arts in 2004, initially through working with young people with autism and youth offenders creating an eco art garden in an inner urban park. This work helped her to win the accolade of Whitbread Young Achiever of the Year 2005, and to be a finalist in the New Stateman’s Social Entrepreneur Awards 2006. She is about to start work with the oldest Steiner school in the country fundraising to increase accessibility, and is a freelance consultant for business start ups, and anything to do with green building and green space projects.
