Brett Moran
Founder, Fank Funk
The Prince’s Trust helped kick start Brett’s social enterprise when they gave him some money to buy a pair of CD decks. Not long after, Brett began his DJ workshops at schools and youth centres around the country. His workshops teach young people how to mix music, scratch and manipulate the latest equipment. Brett’s workshops have also succeeded where others have failed: in creating links with young people and helping them to see life a little differently. Brett not only gets a buzz out of passing on his DJ knowledge, but also talks openly with young people about the highs and lows of his own life and how to make choices that can avoid getting into drugs and crime. Brett has since been accustomed to people turning to him for help. And he’s always on hand to assist others in need.
Recently he took a group of recovering substance missusers away for a day trip to the seaside which dramatically helped them on the road to recovery.
