Haoming Yau

Founder, Promise Aid

Whilst a graduate trainee at Reed Employment, Yau came up with the idea for Promise Aid. He wanted to help people make simple promises and keep them. With Big Boost support, Yau launched PromiseAid.com in 2007. The website is a social networking tool to make promises: anything from giving up smoking, to reducing carbon emissions to making regular donations to charity. The website keeps track of people’s progress and allows them to join up with other users to work toward their goal. Only a few months after launching Promise Aid, Yau enlisted the help of YouTube veteran Peter Oakley (aka geriatric1927) to create one of Promise Aid’s inspiring videos.
