At the age of 16, Kumayl saw the need for a service which helped those young people in his area who were from less privileged backgrounds. There was nothing positive in place to support the young people and as a result they became heavily involved in crime. But when he tried to set up a youth club for these young people, he found it hard to get support for his idea, mostly due to his young age and the assumptions people made about him. Despite this, he established Ansar Youth as a Saturday evening club and as he approaches his nineteenth birthday, Kumayl’s aim is to make the youth club run daily.
