Our crest

Our crest

The Commission’s crest emerged out of desire to incorporate many of the principles that the Commissioners value in their work and their lives.

Chameleon
represents the Commission’s ability to adapt to new and changing environments while embracing the diversity and difference of our members.

Scale
represents the basis of all of our work: social justice. Also, symbolic of the difficult balance social entrepreneurs must find between running a business (making a financial profit) and doing good in the world (producing a social profit).

Currency
Represents the business and enterprise side of social entrepreneurs. There must always be a strong business model at the heart of any social enterprise.

People
represents the individuals and communities that many of our projects serve. People are the real reason to enter social enterprise and must be a valued part of our work.

Globe
The Commission views our work as international. Social enterprise is applicable around the world and our work should be inclusive of international viewpoints.

Motto
‘Instructus Posterus Generations’ or ‘Equipping Future Generations’ embodies the basic motivation behind the Commission’s work.
